Mini review: The Cambridge University Botanic Gardens

Travel the world through botanical excellence.

Nature is a calming and an unpredictable force that we should respect and find restful moments to relax. The world around us can be chaotic and stressful with busy lifestyles, politics and drama.

I visited the The Cambridge University Botanic Gardens and explored the array of exotic and interesting plants with a variety of trails to follow and find those moments of peace that we all crave.

The gardens cultivate over 800 species of plant and are an “invaluable research resource” for the University. The gardens span over 40 acres and have trails called snowdrops, rhythms in plants, a variety of trees, and the climate change trail to enjoy and understand nature in a visual and engaging way.

A highlight of the visit was the greenhouses displaying and cultivating a variety of different rooms that felt like walking through the greenhouses in Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets. I was almost expecting to seize up my ear-muffs and re-pot a mandrake with Professor Sprout!

The gardens and greenhouses were very quiet as winter is still stubbornly planting its feet with a cold chill in the air, but this made the adventure in the greenhouse even more rewarding walking through different climates.

I would recommend a visit to the gardens because it is a relaxing, mindful and educational experience. The self-led trails offer a different experience every time and allows the visitor to curate their journey through nature.
