Publication of the highly anticipated high-fantasy novel, Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare is finally here! I was very lucky to receive an ARC ebook chapter sampler of the first eleven chapters earlier in the year from Netgalley. As a long-term fan of Clare’s work, I pre-ordered the special Waterstones edition (see below) to add to my collection. I cannot wait to continue reading this immersive story and discover what is next for Kel, Lin and Prince Conor. Clare has a skill for creating intricate worlds and characters that are full of mystery and surprise. I want to explore what she can do without the constraints of YA fantasy and explore more sinister character arcs that are compelling to read. This first edition copy of Sword Catcher has a beautiful and intricate map of Castellane, the new world we enter, with all the main locations visited throughout the book. The shiny gold foil cover encapsulates the rich and elegant world of danger and royalty that Kel, Lin and Prince Conor inhabit. This version also has black sprayed edges, now I’m not usually a fan of sprayed edges but the black does compliment the bright and vibrant red and gold. Now I’ll have to collect the rest for my collection.
Cassandra Clare never disappoints and I cannot wait to dive straight into this new high fantasy world. I’ve been reading Clare’s work since my teens and now into my twenties and they are always a comfort read. She has always inspired me to become a fiction author and create intricate plots to make the reader hungry for more!
