The Greek Villa by Sue Roberts. Pub date 3 June 2024.

Sue Roberts sweeps readers off to Greece in a story of love, second chances and friendship that is imbued throughout the characters in her new romance The Greek Villa. When Claudia unexpectedly receives a large sum of inheritance from her Uncle Jack, her life is flipped upside down. Does she continue her mundane life or take a risk and buy a fixer-upper villa in Corfu?

I know what I would choose.

When the villa isn’t quite in the state that Claudia hoped, builder Dimitri swoops in to save the day and helps turn a pile of bricks and dust into a sanctuary, all while falling in love Claudia.

The descriptions of Greece captures the reader’s attention with the vivid images of the culture and scenery that made me slightly envious of Claudia and her Greek villa when reading! Sue Roberts creates a stark contrast from the dreary and mundane world of working in an office in the UK to the stunning world of Greece that pulls Claudia deeper into building her dream life and villa. Claudia flips between the UK and Greece in an attempt to keep her double life going with the repairs and her job, but sooner or late will the pull for sandy shores and a brown eyed builder change her mind?

Claudia hopes a lick of paint will be enough to save the villa, but often that isn’t always enough to patch up the cracks. Many characters face relationship troubles that need deeper repairs to ensure longevity. Roberts sensitively depicts a variety of relationships from old friends turned rivals to friends again, father and son, troubled marriages and frayed connections. But these characters persevere to prove that it doesn’t matter the situation – relationships and friendships always take work and love to flourish. Despite the renovation nightmares and Claudia’s self-doubt, the local community pull together to make her dreams a reality.

The Greek Villa is a fun, light-hearted and fast paced summer read that entwines second chances, love and community in the perfect read for holidays in the sun! Let Sue Roberts take you on a journey to Corfu and back with her vivid characters and imagery that makes the reader experience the delights of Greece without leaving the house.
