The past year and a half, I have been writing my debut fantasy novel, and I’m thrilled to share that it is now ready to be queried to literary agents and publishers. After six months of editing and over a year of writing, I began querying in August. The novel is inspired by the magic and adventure of Pirates of the Caribbean and follows a girl who makes a dangerous deal to save her father – only to find herself caught in the heart of a century old power struggle.
This adventure is the first in a duology and centres on an impulsive noblewoman and a superstitious pirate, who are forced to team up and find a cure and prevent their island from falling into the hands of a power hungry villain. As they navigate poison plots, binding oaths, supernatural threats, and monstrous sea beasts, they must also contend with their growing attraction to each other – if they don’t kill each other first.
While primarily a Young Adult (YA) fantasy, this story will appeal to adult readers, especially fans of Tricia Levenseller’s DAUGHTER OF THE PIRATE KING, and COMPASS AND BLADE by Rachel Greenlaw. My debut Fantasy novel blends swashbuckling action, high-stakes adventure, and emotional depth. At its heart, it’s a story about sacrifice, finding allies in unexpected places, and confronting ghosts of the past – both personal and magical.
