Writer and reviewer Amy Leigh Chandler reviews Wiil BF's Moon Team IIIV comedy show in the run up to their stint at Edinburgh Fringe 2026.

Review: Will BF presents ‘Moon Team IIIV’

Part parody, part chaos, and entirely unpredictable – Moon Team IIIV delivers an hour of high-energy, genre-bending comedy at The Hen & Chickens Theatre, London. A massive thank you to Will BF and Amber Ash at Best Before Prods for the PR invite. Performance of Moon Team was at 7pm on Saturday 4 July 2026.

Will BF presents Moon Team IIIV, a space odyssey with a twist. It features puppets, comedic songs, and even video games that explore why sequels are the best, in a parody of Star Wars. Salt-of-the-earth prince Apollo Moon and his ragtag team set out to save the galaxy from the space tax and an evil empire.

The show is fundamentally made up of two components: a mockumentary tearing the made-up film Moon Team apart, while Will BF acts out those scenes, seamlessly flitting between the two. This mockumentary style perfectly captures the eclectic mix of people, fans, and “celebrities” often seen in talking-head-style documentaries. The level of attention to detail – not only in the video characters, but in keeping the story flowing – is no mean feat. As a one-man show, Will BF manages to keep the momentum going with an array of clever and amusing props, albeit these props were occasionally rough around the edges in execution (which only added to the charm). It’s a sharp-witted production that keeps the audience wondering: what could possibly happen next? And let me tell you, you cannot possibly guess.

The original songs add a level of bizarre humour that quickly sets the tone for what becomes a delightfully baffling show, the ragtag team even have their own identity and personality, with Swimothy the ever-growing fish even getting a solo. The show doesn’t take itself too seriously, which draws the audience in and playfully pokes fun at familiar sci-fi tropes – eliciting plenty of “ah yes” moments.

There is a fair bit of audience participation (which I must admit isn’t my favourite when it comes to productions, but the low pressure puts the audience at ease). If audience participation is your thing, you will love the engagement and feeling part of the show rather than a silent bystander. I did feel that the show lost a little momentum around the half-way mark and started to feel like the jokes ran away from the ‘story’ of Moon Team, but it quickly regained pace and finished on a high. With a little refinement in places, such as slicker transition between scenes and even ensuring props don’t fall apart mid-scene, this could become an even tighter performance that leaves comedy fans craving more.

The show had an intimate and friendly atmosphere – whimsical, fun, and a little bonkers. Moon Team showcases a breadth of comedic skills and prop manipulation, bringing the performance together. Will BF will be taking Moon Team IIIV to the Edinburgh Fringe this August if you want to catch an hour of nonstop laughs and sharp storytelling that delivers on its promised punchlines.
